Today the chicks are have really learnt to fly! Braveheart was discovered 51cm above the ground, balancing on the edge of their cardboard box house. We are going to have use some netting as a roof to stop them escaping.

And they have had there first time on the kitchen table for weighing.

Stripes weighs 130 g (massive!)
Braveheart  120g

Day 10 (of their lives)
The chicks have settled in and have started to fly up to the perches we made out of sticks in the box.

Braveheart weighs 98g
Stripes weighs 101g

They have had a runaround in the kitchen and are getting used to their wings.
Stripes seems to be a leader and Braveheart is always pecking me. They get on very well and are always snuggling up to each other.

On Friday we got some chicks from school, they are called Braveheart and Stripes.

Why did our school have chicks?

School had chicks because we had ten chick eggs from a company called Living Eggs who give out eggs to schools. We watched them hatch and grow. Ten days later I was able to take two home!!!
Stripes and Braveheart in their new home - a cardboard box under a heat lamp which makes everything look red.
